AML/CFT Fundamentals and Nigerian Typologies: CBN, EFCC & NFIU
Learn how Nigeria prevents, detects and reports money laundering and terrorist financing through practical local cases and red flags.
What you'll learn
Recognise Nigerian AML/CFT red flags, understand regulator roles, distinguish report types, escalate suspicion correctly and analyse common local typologies with confidence.
About this course
Build a working foundation in anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism as it operates in Nigeria. The course explains the core concepts, the risk-based approach, the Nigerian legal framework, and the distinct roles of the CBN, NFIU, EFCC and SCUML.
You will then move from rules to practice. Using Nigerian banking, fintech, POS, procurement, fraud, smuggling and terrorism-financing scenarios, you will learn how to recognise red flags, distinguish unusual activity from reportable suspicion, and understand STR, SAR and CTR reporting.
The course reflects the current framework, including the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act 2022, the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act 2022, CBN AML/CFT/CPF requirements, NFIU reporting guidance and recent Nigerian typology publications.
