2h 11m 19 lessons 5 sections

What you'll learn

Apply Nigeria's tiered KYC rules correctly, build defensible CDD files, identify PEP exposure and perform proportionate enhanced due diligence.

About this course

Build a practical understanding of KYC and customer due diligence for Nigerian financial institutions, from identity verification and beneficial ownership to risk-based monitoring and tier upgrades. The course explains the CBN three-tier KYC framework and shows how its original low-, medium- and high-value structure must be read together with current BVN, NIN and electronic onboarding requirements.

The second half focuses on Politically Exposed Persons. You will learn how to identify domestic, foreign and international-organisation PEP exposure, distinguish source of wealth from source of funds, prepare senior management approval packs, design enhanced monitoring and investigate red flags without treating PEP status as proof of wrongdoing.

The course is grounded in the CBN AML/CFT/CPF Regulations 2022, the CBN Three-Tiered KYC Requirements, the CBN's December 2023 BVN/NIN circular, the CBN 2023 PEP Guidance and current NFIU reporting guidance. It is designed for Nigerian compliance teams, fintech operations staff, bankers, auditors and professionals preparing for AML/KYC responsibilities.
