The Career Passport

Four kinds of claim, never mixed.

A profile page gives every line the same tick, so a competition you won and a job title you typed carry the same weight. This document keeps them apart, and says which is which on every line.

    Demonstrated skills

    Somebody did a timed task under our conditions and was scored against everybody else who did it.

    The rank, the size of the field and the score all come from the Gauntlet's own results, and the passport shows the task that was set.

    Joche-issued achievements

    Joche Academy awarded a certificate, and it carries a number.

    Anybody can check that number at /verify without an account. It says we certified this, which is a real claim and a smaller one than a scored result.

    Verified from other sources

    Confirmed automatically with whoever actually holds the record.

    Nothing reaches this tier yet. It has a name so that when something does, it is not mistaken for either of its neighbours.

    Professional history

    The holder typed it in: a job, a degree, something they did elsewhere.

    Nobody has checked it and the passport never pretends otherwise. It is useful context about a career and it is not evidence.

How a credential gets on

  1. 01You finish somethingEvery certificate you earn at Joche Academy lands on your passport by itself, dated. Every Gauntlet round you place in arrives the same way, with its rank and its field size. Nothing to upload and nothing to retype.
  2. 02We sign itEach credential carries a number and a seal derived from its own contents. Change one character and the seal stops matching.
  3. 03They check itAn employer opens your link or scans the code and reads the record straight from us. No account, no sign-up, and no waiting on you. A withdrawn credential reads as withdrawn rather than quietly disappearing.

Why a rank needs a denominator

“Champion, Round 04” is a title, and anybody can write one into a profile. An employer reading it cannot tell a round of four friends from a round of four hundred strangers. So a placement on this passport carries the field it was won against, the score, how many entered, and what the task actually was. Tap Evidence on any result to see them.

Where a figure was never recorded, the line is left off rather than filled in. A percentile is worked out from the rank and the field size instead of being stored, so it cannot disagree with the two numbers it comes from, and it is not shown at all for fields too small for it to mean anything.
